Hello All,

Highlights of the Tuesday meeting held on 31st January 2006

First Tuesday meeting on the year 2006.

1. Test Coordinator for the week is Marco Buzio and Equipment Support on call is Giorgio.

2. Four Dipoles have been installed on A & F clusters and one Arc SSS has been installed on bench B1.

3. Halik briefed about the mechanical modifications carried out on different benches during the shutdown.

- Benches D1 & D2 were modified for special SSS of all families.

- C cluster is being modified to accommodate Arc SSS.

- Special SSS 619 has been put on D2 and its alignment is being done. Connection will take one day.

- Special SSS 608 will be installed on D1.

- First 500 series magnet 507 will be put on D2 bench after 619.

- 13 Arc SSS are ready for installation for testing.

4. Lionel briefed on the status of cryo systems.

- Pumping of He gas will be started on F1 to cool down from 300 to 80 K in the afternoon and it will take ~ 12 hrs. to complete.

- Cooling of the combined main cryo line is being started which will take ~ 24 hrs. Hence liquid phase cooling will be started only by tomorrow afternoon.

- Installation of capillary for S4 on D1 will take 2 days.

- On B2 & C1 damaged voltage taps are to be repaired/replaced.

5. Patrick Vaubourg & Eric Grande briefed about the status of ICS.

- The man power is arranged in 5 teams of 3 persons for the round the clock shifts.

- A new excel sheet has been created to follow up the activities of ICS team. This is available on the PCs in the SM18 hall for viewing by OP team.

- There is no change in the ROCLA team working hours. A proposal has been raised for round the clock shift.

6. Giorgio informed about the changes in the HW & SW systems.

- Power converter software has been changed by AB-PO and necessary modifications in the LabVIEW software also have been done. Equipment Support is to be called incase of any communication problems between TEMA & Power Converter.

- Due to the software change, the ‘SPA’ message has been changed to ‘No PC Permit’.

- Cluster C polarity switch gear box was replaced and the mechanical lock has been enlarged for smooth operation.

- Repair/replacement of gear boxes of other clusters will be taken up one by one. It requires an outage of 1 to 1½ day per cluster.

- S4 configuration files can now be generated by the Hardware Recognition program. Hence ‘Prep 0 Scan’ is to be done on S4 also for the magnet name, anti-cryostat etc. Initially for few magnets (S4) Eq. Sup. will set the config. files and later instructions will be given to OP team.

- S4 Test Sequence list for TEMA is being prepared together with OP team.

- Switching over from one bench to another in D cluster will be made through the interconnect box. Necessary cabling is being done.

7. Richard informed that the initial warm HV test for the S4 will be carried out in building 904.

8. Dhruv made a presentation on the common errors/ mistakes appearing in SMTMS/ MTR entries. The full presentation will be put in the SM18 web site. Some of the suggestions are given below.

- For HV tests of SSS, ensure /select test in SMTMS ‘CDW1 / CDBP / CDAP’ and not ‘CQW1 / CQBP / CQAP’. These tests will be deleted from the SMTMS test list.

- In SMTMS, for powering tests AQA current is to be entered and Manual MIITS & Quench Location are to be entered. Also for all tests the automatic entries of the current & temperature values should be verified before updating.

- In MTR, the name of the person carrying out the test to be entered first.

- During corrector powering, proper current ramp up /down should be observed in the LF viewer. In case of quench, the file name and current are to be noted down in MTR.

- CDPT file should be saved as an excel file (.xls).

- Put a remark in MTR for PT14, especially when the magnet is put on stand by or nay NC is present.

9. Eric informed that there will be some modification in the CDR / CQR excel sheets to ensure that there are no typing mistakes and information of faulty TT821 reading is passed to Eq. Sup.

Wish all you a smooth & successful year ahead.

Regards

Jacob

PS. This is the first ‘highlights’ prepared by me and the last too!!!!
