Tuesday meeting held on 28 th Nov, 2006:

Dear Colleagues,

The details of the magnets tested during the week 21-11-2006 to 27-11-2006 are as follows:

Total 10 magnets were tested in this week, 5 magnets stripped off.

6 – Dipoles (1404 not Tested due to HV failure)- 3 Stripped off,

1 - Arc SSS, ( SSS363)

1 - 500 series ( SSS517)

2 - 600 series (671 and 650).

Test coordinator: Gilbert.

Equipment Support: Guy , Giorgio

Following are the minutes in brief:

1) There was a problem in carrying out CD- Corrector powering in SSS363. This test was tried to carry out after completing all the power tests. Still the problem was persisting so OP team changed the leads to EF- power supply. The test was done but the graph was not OK as well the triggers were received while doing the test. Equipment support changed the power supply and data acquisition cards also. The problem was solved. Giorgio informed the OP team that they should inform such problems to Equipment Support.

2) Louis pointed out that all the tests shall be carried out carefully considering the health of the magnet, and NOT bypassing any safety interlocks. He further indicated that we have got sufficient number of magnets to install in the tunnel, so there won’t be any problem if the testing of balance magnets take more time say till end of January-2007.

3) Halik mentioned the magnets expected on D1 and D2 benches are 674 (without SSW), 692,669,695. SSS500 series magnets are not there to put on the bench.

4) Magnet MBAL-2282 has problem of failure in WP07 and resistance measurement at warm – PT13.2. The tests on the magnets are finished, but it will be kept in SM-18 for further investigation.

5) There was a cryo problem on Friday and Saturday due to blockage of compressor.

6) Stephane told that 7 numbers of Ansaldo magnets are coming for SSW and MMs on Bench-A, mostly one magnet per week shall be tested. He emphasized that these magnets shall be put on cryo priority, since the LHC cycles are very long and cryo loss in middle of the tests further introduce the delay of many hours.

6) Stephane explained various problems occurred during the week ended. Some of them are as bellow:

- MB1406 failed in WP04- QH211 was noticed. Further special tests were carried out.

-MB1366- WP04 failed. Pumped to remove humidity

-MB2282- Auto-Trigger was generated after warm up quench.

- SSS522- Corrector powering of CD-Correctors. Power supply cards were changed.

-MB1371- Error in IAP at warm was detected. Inversion of polarity in IFS box was detected.

That’s all was discussed in the meeting.

Have a nice week ahead.

Best Regards
