Dear Colleagues,

Following are the main point discussed in today’s meeting (Tuesday, 24th Oct’ 2006):

Test Coordinator : Vittorio

Equipment Support : Richards

Magnet Tests completed : 9 (7 Stripped)

Dipoles : 5 ( 2 with Magnetic Measurement: 1380 & 1408)

ARC-SSS : 3 ( SSS339 Not trained. Decision Pending)

IR-SSS : 1 (518 EF NC, not trained in 12 quenches)

600 Series : 0

Bench Configuration : Dipole:6, ArcSSS:2, IRSSS:4

General Points

1. SSS339: Quenches are in straight Path. It is likely to go in machine at proper location. Decision to be taken in MEB meeting.

2. SSS518: EF Corrector (MQTL) training was poor. It reached around 350A in 12 quenches. To be placed in location where this corrector is not critical. Decision to be taken in MEB meeting.

3. There was cryo limitation last week. No training could be carried out between Tuesday afternoon & Wednesday afternoon. It was informed by Cryo team that cryo limitation will continue till Friday afternoon. The 18KW refrigeration plant for machine is presently being used at SM18 for magnet testing. The configuration checking of this plant for operation in machine was done.

4. Disconnection of magnet SSS278 & Connection of SSS308 took lot of time for C1. The reason: SSS308 was ready only by Friday afternoon & hence could not be placed before Monday.

5. There are more number of dipoles left for testing. It was informed that number of benches for Dipole may need to be increased in future.

6. Magnets arriving for testing this week:

a. D1: SSS521: SSW

b. D2: SSS679: SSW+Chaconsa. It will be completed on Friday.

Next Magnet Expected: SSS675

c. B2: Next Magnet expected is SSS515 with Anticryostat. Will be placed on 24th Oct.

d. C1: SSS308

e. A2: MBAR1410: Extended Measurement by Nicolas Sammut.

Result Details last week:

1. 17M Shift: SSS352: Errors in QH discharge (IAP @Warm Final) due to slightly higher charging voltage.

2. 17N Shift: SSS520: Error in MM3 in a sector. Loadline checked by Guy and is OK

3. 18N Shift: SSS520: MMP failed repeatedly with Message “CPU Address wrong during Data Acquisition” & aborted. Giorgio corrected the problem

4. 20M Shift: SSS619: Magnet cooled down in gaseous phase as one heater is not working. Stephan suggested to warm up the magnet, open it & repair. Work executed by Mechanic team on Saturday

5. 20A Shift: MB1408: Warmup Quench Warning on DVT of poles. Stephan checked the quench & suggested OK to proceed

6. 20N Shift: SSS520: Ramp 9. Ultimate reached but quench during the plateau. Stephan suggested to repeat the test to avoid ROBTC, if possible.

7. 21M Shift: MB2382: Provoked quench at nominal instead of trg quench. 4th Training it reached ultimate.

8. 21N Shift: MB1410: Shaft installation, not moving beyond 700mm. Blocked in MM position.

9. 21N Shift: All: Water supply problem. No Cold tested. Salem informed. He contacted TCR. Solved by resetting PLCCU.

10. 21N Shift: MB1410: While launching PT1 Part I. Value of temp could not be corrected due to incorrect coefficients.

11. 22A Shift: MB1410: 1st Trg Quench @ 11400. Alarm on MIITS (37 instead of 36.5) Stephan analyzed. Bump before quench lead to error in AQA. Stephan asked Salem to tune the potaim card.

12. 22A Shift: MB1410: Stephane checked MM1: Positioning not good. Stephane informed Salem and test repeated.

Cheers,
