Dear Colleagues,

Following are the highlights of the Tuesday meeting held on 23 May 2006:

1) Magnet Test cycles: 16 complete magnet test cycles were performed. 12 - Dipoles, 1 - Arc SSS, 1 - 500 series (524) and 2 - 600 series (628, 663).

2) Louis Walkiers reminded that we shall continue with 4 benches for SSS for some more weeks. Therefore having a choice the OP team should assign higher priority for SSS so as to limit the build up of backlogs on SSS.

3) Nick pointed out that the present magnet (647) on D1 is scheduled for stretch wire as well magnetic measurement. The normal sequence of tests on SpSSS is training upto ultimate, stretch wire measurement, magnetic measurement. However Guy and Marco may coordinate to decide the test sequence as well as prepare a optimal to do list so as to reduce the dead time on week end.

4) Louis Walkiers stressed upon the use of “White board” as well as “Paper stcicker” as a tool to exchange information between various shifts of OP team. In line of this arrangement he expected a paper sticker to be put for magnet 647 as soon as an optimal sequence is decided by the concerned person.

5) Nick mentioned that the magnet 2255 on bench E1 came on the bench consuming approximately 18hourrs of bench time without any apparent reason. The magnet was trained successfully without any NC on previous run of tests. The magnet was decided to be removed from the bench after intervention of Nick. He emphasized that the OP team leader should always try to ascertain the reason whenever a magnet comes for repeat run and make himself convinced before entering it into SMTMS. In case of doubt the TC can always be referred for clarification.

6) The magnet SSS635 went out of bench before warm HV test and signing of e-traveler, paper traveler. This is not as per the established sequence of action. GHH indicated that such action create inconsistency in the database of SMTMS, shift operation. Therefore it is desirable that whenever such speedy removal is necessitated by ICS they can call and indicate the urgency to OP team leader so as to avoid any confusion afterwards. Nick also highlighted the fact that OP team is equipped with HV racks by which they can perform HV tests only on the bench. Therefore if the final HV (after disconnection) is desired to be done by OP team the magent should not be removed from the bench.

Major problems encounterd by SM18 OP Team & their solutions:

1) The HV panel does not come on TEMA several times and more frequently on B cluster. Giorgio indicated that such problem occurs when there is more load on communication bandwidth.

That is all for the previous week.

Best Regards
