Minutes of Meeting

1. Past week’s performance.

Previous week test coordinator was Piere and the Eq Support person on call was Frederico.

Total 12 number of magnets tested. Out of this 7 were dipoles and all of them stripped. 2 Arc SSS were also stripped. Arc SSS-064 training, HV was OK but a voltage found open at CQW2. 2 IR-SSS of 600 series (671, 670) did not train upto ultimate but crossed nominal.

2. Forecast of next week.

Next week test coordinator will be Nick upto 22.11.06 and thereafter Gilbert. Eq support person on call will be Guy.

For bench D1 Halik predicted IR SSS-622 which shall have SSW and standard MM. Bench D2 shall have IR SSS-520 with no special measurements.

3. Magnet 064

There was confusion about MCBC corrector powering of this magnet. Eric provided the archive data of LF to prove they were powered upto ultimate (60A). The magnet is still however on the bench for checking of voltage taps by Eq. Support. Seimko agreed that there was no need to connect the magnet to CFB. Luis pointed out that we need to avoid such connection when ICS have many other pending jobs in hand.

4. Magnet 371

It was found that MCBC corrector ‘GH’ of this magnet was not trained upto ultimate. It was powered upto 51A against its ultimate value of 60A. Eric said this happened because there was no generation of file due to trigger at 51A and the concerned operator might have understood it went upto ultimate. Nick asked the Op team should be careful next time to ensure proper powering of all corrector by checking the LF archived data. OP team members, who do not know the procedure of seeing the archive data must learn it soon from other colleagues, who already know that. It is advisable to check the archive data once again to ensure proper powering of all corrector before warming up the magnet especially when it is noted that powering went upto corresponding ultimate value without generation of file.

5. Alignment of test bench A1, A2

Halik requested to keep the bench A2 free of magnet for some time to check the alignment and also to keep a magnet disconnected on bench A1 for same reason. OP team leader may please call Halik and inform him when this situation is anticipated next time.

6. Shutting down of power supply.

Nick mentioned there shall be planned outage of external power supply at CERN for a few minutes on 04.12.06. He hoped cryo team shall take necessary steps to minimize the recovery time after that outage. He informed the purpose of outage is to demonstrate the readiness of alternate essential power supply system at CERN.

That’s all from Tuesday meeting dt 21.11.06
