Dear Colleagues,

Following are the main points discussed in the meeting on 21st march, 2006.

Total of 16 magnets (8 dipoles+6 Arc-SSS+2 IR-SSS) were tested in the week from 14th march, 2006 to 20th march, 2006.

Test co-ordinator : Vittorio

Equipment Support: Richard Mompo

General:

1. The issue of turning the polarity switch wrongly was raised by giorgio. It was decided that the switch should be handled by experienced persons (e.g. CERN staff or Shift leader).

2. Equipment support complained of being disturbed frequently by OP team about trivial issues. It was discussed and resolved that shift leader will try to resolve problems alongwith experienced members of his team. Only if the problem could not be resolved by themselves will he call the equipment support. At the same time it was pointed out to equipment support team to be more co-operative about the special SSS as very little is known about them even by the experienced staff.

3. Vinod chohan suggested that ICS people should interact more with OP team about the status of mechanical operations (and problems).

Specifics:

TBA1: MB2286, MIITS-AQA exceeded limit 45, MIITS-manual 36. Giorgio explained it was due to problem in quench detection.

TBC1: SSS236 & MB1162 - HV failed. Richard will investigate.

TBB1: SSS504, Helium leak in correctors. It was put out.

TBD1: SSS620, ICS reported mechanical problems.

Special SSS:

Louis Halkias emphasised the need to take up the special SSS for tests. OP team expressed that problems at the working level prevents the correct and efficient test operations on special SSS and this would hamper the overall efficiency of the test operations. The main points discussed were -

1. Giorgio suggested more of OP team memebers to learn S4 tests. OP team sited lack of organised and structured information as the main reason for the problems with routine test operations of S4 magnets.

2. Marylin (and giorgio) pointed out that the lists for 500 and 600 series magnet produced by Jacob John was not correct and superfluous. Vinod chohan suggested ES team to have a look at the lists as they were made with the available informations and with the intentions to make progress instead of waiting for someone to produce it. The list is the basis of the first page of MTR(for special SSS) containing the summary of information used as guidance by the OP team. Giorgio was asked to suggest ways to improve the structure and/or information on the list and help OP team persons (e.g. manna, kandaswamy etc.) to revise the list accordingly.

3. OP team informed that the connectors are a source of confusion about special SSS. A clearer guideline about connections for each magnet (special SSS) was called for.

4. Marylin informed that certain informations about special SSS like polarity etc. is available on TEMA. OP team has to launch a dummy test from TEMA with HW recognition ON to get this info displayed on TEMA.

Thats all for the week ended on 20th March, 2006.

Best regards.
