Dear colleagues

Please find the highlights of today’s meeting given below:

Highlights of SM18 operation meeting held on 19th July 2005 (Tuesday)

- In the last week 14 magnets were tested in which 11 dipoles (two with MM) and 3 SSS (one with MM) magnets were tested.

- Louis Walckiers wished a pace of 11-12 dipole magnets to be tested per week from the undisturbed 8 benches for dipole magnets while remaining 4 benches B1, B2, D1 & D2 will be busy with special tests.

- He informed that repair of silver shoe on bench D2 will be taken up which will take around one week.

- On bench D1, it is special fatigue/lifetime tests on SSS217 for investigating possible leak threat.

- Marco wanted that magnet number also should be added with the bench with problem in the e-logbook.

- Operation problems faced in the last week were discussed as given below:

- On Wednesday night on bench C2 (magnet 3156) server was not responding. After resetting SUN it became ok.

- On Thursday afternoon on bench C1 (magnet 1245) quench occurred during SPA at 1672A. Marco suggested to repeat test as magnet safety was not in danger.

- On Friday morning on bench B2 (magnet S204) there was 1.3V offset in Q-I-E. Marylin investigated but no result.

- On Friday morning on bench D1 (magnet S217) nominal current not reached during EF corrector powering. Eric switched to the right configuration.

- On Friday afternoon on bench A1 (magnet 2189) Richard corrected wrong gains of potaim card 3, Ch.1.

- On Friday night on bench D1 (magnet S217) SPA occurred after 9 minutes @ ultimate current due to probable cryo instability. The test was repeated successfully.

- On Friday night on bench B2 (magnet S204) quench occurred during SPA (PT8.2) @ 11410A. The test was repeated and quench occurred again. Richard suspected a probable short on a parallel protection resistor which was not confirmed as the later warm tests were ok. The trigger threshold was temporarily increased by a factor of 3 to allow the SPA to proceed. Magnet put in standby.

- On Saturday morning on bench A1 (magnet 2189) quench occurred during SPA @ 10220A. The test was repeated successfully.

- On Saturday afternoon on bench F1 (magnet 2206) false trigger on HF, LF show error loading configuration file.

- On Saturday afternoon on bench E1 (magnet 3292) ROCLA arrived early on the bench.

- On Saturday afternoon on bench A1 (magnet 2189) quench occurred during SPA @ 8293A.

- On Sunday afternoon on bench C2 (magnet 3085) quench occurred in the busbar during PT5.2. Richard found a very symmetric quench, which is detected only outside of the magnet. Advised to go on with further tests.

- On Sunday night on bench B2 (magnet S036) connections appeared to have been re-labeled. Re-labeling is correct as sick magnet.

- On Sunday night on the bench B2 it was unable to launch the IAP final due to cryo interlock. After TEMA reset it became ok.

This is all about the highlights of today’s meeting.

Have a nice week ahead.

With regards
