Dear colleagues

The followings are the highlights of the Tuesday meeting held today i.e. 18th October 2005.

Highlights of the meeting held on October 18, 2005 (Tuesday)

n 14 magnet test cycles were completed during the last week from 11 benches (E2 still under CFB repair). These include 9 Dipoles, 3 SSS and 2 Special SSS.

n Pierre informed that no connection is required for CDEF to 600A busbar in case of special SSS magnet. This was discussed with reference to SSS654 on bench B1.

n The test PT13.2 on magnet SSS349 on TBB2 took long time on 14th October (Friday) and was done thrice, one each by previous day night shift, morning shift and finally by afternoon shift. The previous two readings were not matching with CQR template but the third one was correct as per the CQR and successful. After second one the Guy, Georgio and ICS looked into the connections but informed that there was no change made during the investigation. There was issue on who signed e-traveler and why without the test being successful. The e-traveler was already signed and the magnet was with ICS when the second and third ones were taken up. There was possibility for wrong polarity connection during previous measurements.

n On 11th October during night shift the PLC status display showed “PC main” fault for TBA2, TBC2 and TBF2. On investigation it was concluded that the PLCCU was in TEMA mode and had inhibited A2, C2 and F2 thinking too many valves are open. The PLCCU was put in local mode (default mode so far) and the problem was solved, but it was not known why it was put in TEMA mode. Andrez Siemko questioned the local mode to be default mode as it is not safe. A solution has to be found out for this. Not more than three power converters should be connected at the same time.

n On 12th October during morning shift the HV test (CDBP) on MBAR2229 on bench E1 failed. Pierre came and IFS box was opened. During test an electric arc happened. The IFS box was changed and then the test was successful. Pierre observed that while disoldering the solder melts down and degrades insulation and hence pump should be used while desoldering to keep insulation healthy.

n On 12th October during morning shift for magnet MBBL2071 on TBC2 there was high tau jump on training quench. Pierre commented it as usual for Ansaldo magnets.

n On 12th October during afternoon shift for magnet MBAR1253 on TBF2 the HV test (CDAP) was giving PLC-HV communication error with server while using HV rack MY92. The test was successful with HV rack MY95. Georgio informed that the fixed cabling on cluster F may have problem and Richard is investigating the problem.

n On 14th October during afternoon shift the test IAP at warm initial (Prep 2.1) on magnet MBBL2055 on TBF2 showed error for Vanode and Vcathode values. This was because of new version of IAP (6.33) which checks for diode and there was no left anode connector connected in series with D20 cable during this test as in practice so far. Now the left anode connector should be connected in series with D20 for left magnets during Prep 2.1 & Prep 2.2 too.

n On 14th October during night shift for magnet SSS604 on TBD2 there was confusion on injection value for SSW transfer function. Stephen told that the new value in ToDoList defined by MEB in Aug 2005 for MQM at 1.9K is 265A. It replaced the old value of 350A.

These are highlights among various issues discussed today.

With regard.
