Dear Colleagues,

Following are the minutes of the Tuesday meeting held on 18th July, 2006:

Test Coordinator – Dr. Chohan

ŕ 15 magnet tests completed.

8 – Dipoles (2290 with magnetic measurement),

5 - Arc SSS (271 -3 times thermal cycle),

0 - 500 series

and 2 - 600 series (676 (166 hrs), 682 after thermal cycle (150hrs)).

ŕ Chohan has mentioned that the overall performance during last week was O.K except some real problems related to S682 and humidity related problems on HV Insulation tests. Louis added that the S682 is of the first kind in its series. In the next magnet testing, extraction resistor will be put in series with magnet and corrective measures will be taken in the cold mass of the future 600 series magnets.

ŕ This week Pierre will be the Supervisor and for Equipment Support: SALEM.

ŕ Halik mentioned that in TBD2, SSS623 will be put next. In TBA2, the next magnet will be 1360 dipole.

ŕ Nick mentioned that in June ’06 total 38 dipole and 23 SSS magnet tests were completed. The cooling and warming time of Cryogenics are more or less stable. The rate seems to be O.K.

ŕ Stephane will be on leave from 22nd JULY to 14th August. For any Magnetic Measurement related problems, the shift leaders may contact Marco Buzio during this period.

ŕ Stephane mentioned about a problem with T-coil having no power supply in TBD1 (S636). The problem was solved by PROPER selection of Test “family3” config. files for MQY magnets.

ŕ On TBC2 (S141), quench occurred 2 times at Ultimate current of 12850A. AQA does not register. Problem solved by increasing the level of Helium in current lead tank with the guidance of EQ-Sup. Richard mentioned that in this special situations, REMEMBER to decrease the Helium level after test is over.

ŕ On TBD1 (S636), warm up quench could not be launched. PLC showed fault on QH even though all QH were charged. Problem was solved by connection of QH trigger cable on magnet which was left open after HV test PT9.

ŕ TBC1 (S274), HV insulation test (CQBP) was failing in sextupole vs. GND. Water condensation was noticed by ERIC on CD/EF current leads on top. It may be due to high humidity last week. ACR team solved it by drying using fans. Richard suggested to use fans on top CD/EF current leads, if this problem repeats.

ŕ On TBD2 (SSS645), current did not ramp in PT4. Error222 in serial port. Richard mentioned that we have to exit all the power applications and server application in the bench and rest the DICO. It has to be done with care!

ŕ Pierre mentioned that on MBAL 2339, cryo leak test will be done in coordination with OP-Team with a quench on the magnet. Also in F1 bench a small problem in CRYO will be resolved today 18th.

Special Note by Nick to OP-Team:

During any shift, for any problem in operation, the team members should consult with the shift leader & experienced members BEFORE calling the Equipment Support. The problem should be informed to the EQ-Support by the Shift Leader. The point is “team members should not work independently”.

Have a pleasant week ahead.

Best Regards
