Hello Everyone !

17 Magnets Tested : 12 Dipoles (2 with MM - 1180, 3293), 5 SSS (1 - Thermal cycle SSS158)

Regarding CRYO:

TBA2 will be liberated for CRYO operation

TBF2 - should be free today after warm tests for change of silver shoe. Concerned Shift leader should check with ICS and see that no new magnet comes till the repair of silver shoe is done.

Mechanics:

This week 2 SSS with anticryostat will arrive

TBD2 - Special SSS613

TBD1 - SSS156 (with magnetic measurements)

Problems and solutions:

1.. On some benches (typically E1) ) the ICS finds it very difficult to turn the wheel to bring the magnet in cold position (for Lyre test). This problem is solved temporarily. But if the problem comes again, ICS will stop. The concerned operator should contact the Shift leader / TC for calling mechanics.

2.. TBB1 - SSS196, Iearth value too high in 1500A provoked quench. Richard did various tests and then decided to go for training. After 2 quenches the magnet reached ultimate. Stephane checked all the quench data and found OK. The problem is suspected in LF card and it may appear again.

3.. TBD2 - SSS155, D1-D2 not compensated. Error was found in voltage tap connection for Diode. Also the problem in LF rack was corrected. The magnet is cooled once again and IAP at cold should be carried out on high priority basis for further investigation.

4.. Polarity switch on cluster B could not be changed because the rod could not be released. Georgio will look into the matter very soon.

5.. Saturday CRYO was very slow due to leak. Problem solved and CRYO is expected to be normal.

Instructions for Operators

1.. If the polarity swith is hard to move. please do not force and better stop. Call equipment support. These switches are very delicate and difficult to replace. Please be more careful everytime.

2.. To close any LabView window please use the Exit button, do not use the 'Windows' close buttons. By using the windows close buttons directly, it is found that some applications do not close properly.

3.. There are two ways to see the data of quench heaters discharge, thru HF and LF data acquisitions. If due to some reason 'hfoff' does not show proper result check the graphs in 'lfoff'. If still the problem exists call equipment support. Otherwise equipment support need not be called during odd hours, during daytime they can just be informed that results are OK with 'lfoff' and NOT OK with 'hfoff'.

4.. For magnets with anticrostat, some times the operators forget to scan Anticrostat, this causes problems in further tests. Before proceeding the scan one should check whether the magnet is with or without Anticryostat.

5.. If you find that there is a communication error with PLCSE, call equipment support.

cheers and regards,

Paresh
