Dear Colleagues,

Highlights of Tuesday’s (16/08/2005) meeting

for the week 07/08/2005 (Sunday) to 13/08/2005 (Saturday):

(1) 14 Complete Magnet Test Cycles performed during the week.

(2) Magnets Tested: 10 Dipoles (0 with MM) + 1 SSS (without MM & SSW).

(3) Leak on TBE1: MBAL 3106 on Monday (15/08/05) evening.

(4) Leak on TBF2: MBBR3387 on Sunday (07/08/2005).

(5) TBD2: SSS607 S4-(Q4): Magnet has been aligned at Warm after a lot of effort.

(6) Next magnet on TBD1 is SSS245 (without anti-cryostat).

(7) SSS206 on TBD1 was on Standby because of NC in Corrector Circuit (MO Reversed).

(8) TBA2: MBAL1084: Special test cycle (refer test sequence written on white board in Control room).

(9) TBF2: MBAR3348: Special Magnet Test programme (refer test sequence written on white board in Control room). Please consult Stephan before warming-up the magnet. He wants to check some results with the MMP and then decide the warm-up of the magnet.

(10) Next magnet on either F1 or F2 will be having anti-cryostats and where we will perform special tests.

(11) HV Problem: There have been problems when launching the HV tests and the error is “Communication error between PLCSE & PLCHV”. This problem is currently solved by holding the PLCSE cable (coming from the bench) upwards by taking support of the hook behind the HV rack, thereby enabling proper contact. This was discussed in the meeting and the cable connector seems not to be OK, as the contacts inside the connector are fragile. The problem will be solved by redoing the cabling.

(12) ICS could not run the HV test on TBD1. The reason was unknown.

(13) Topic Under Discussion:

After the Connecting Cryostat on TBB1: LE-C11R7, whether that bench will be for SSS or Dipoles? Currently TBB2 is converted for Dipoles. Hence from the operation team it is decided that the complete B cluster (TBB1 + TBB2) be converted for dipoles as this will avoid possible mistakes and thereby save time. This was the general opinion in the meeting. Hence in the future meetings all of us of the operation team should put forward this point/opinion whenever it is discussed.

That is all for this week.

Have a nice week ahead.

Best regards,

Dhruva Bhattacharjee.
