Dear all,

Following are the highlights of the Tuesday meeting on 14/6/05.

1) 19 magnets were tested last week. These include 12 Dipoles, 6 Arc SSS (1 with on-bench Thermal Cycling) and 1 IR SSS.

2) There were problems of loading HF acquisition on 2-3 clusters. Salem will look into the problem.

3) A list of 38 magnets which are without diodes has been prepared and put up in the control room. For these magnets an NC needs to be opened in CDW2 but they can be signed for stripping if there is no other problem. Eric informed that the MTR will be modified to facilitate generation of NC for such magnets. It was informed that last week there were 2 Dipoles which were without diodes.

4) Nick has informed that whenever any magnet is signed for 'STANDBY' the REASON for the same should be CLEARLY WRITTEN both in the MTR and SMTMS.

5) Eq. Support are doing tests on Sp SSS (SSS639) on TBD2. They have been asked to coordinate with Operation team in advance to ensure that the bench becomes available to them at the required temperature whenever they need to continue their tests.

6) Giorgio informed that an intervention of 2-3 days would be needed on C cluster to change the gearing mechanism of the polarity switch. It is being planned for next week.

7) In TBB1, a lot of noise was observed in 1.5 KA provoked quench. Giorgio informed that this may be a consequence of using HF+MF views in pens. He advised to use only HF or MF views only. He is also trying to get more details from AB/CO to sort out the problem. If there is no AQA alert for noise we can continue.

8) In TBB and TBD there were problems with the HW REC and the magnet name disappeared from TEMA. Eq Support advised to switch off HWREC and enter the name manually. Maryline informed that whenever HWREC is switched off and switched ON again there may still be problems in performing tests which require further configuration uploading. In such cases it is best to inform equipment support before switching on the HWREC.

9) There were problems in HV racks MY92 and MY95. There was broken connector in MY92 and a blown fuse in MY95. These problems were identified and rectified by Richard. He is also investigating the problem of incorrect megger voltages in MY92 but the problem could not be reproduced. Giorgio informed that both the racks are now available for use.

10) Regarding frequent communication problems and subsequent reset of PLCSEs, Giorgio informed that AB/CO is dealing directly with M/s Siemens to investigate the problem and replace the PLCs if necessary.

11) To solve the problem of SPA occuring during PT8 and PT6 on some clusters the CRYO team have modified their program to increase the flow rate during these tests. J-P Lamboy informed that the cryo team would need an intervention of about 2-3 hours to install the new program and test it by putting high current in the magnet.

12) It has been observed that sometimes the TEMA program hangs because of communication (UDP) problems with PLC and the TEMA applications cannot be killed locally. Marco informed that in such cases both the TEMA and the PLC stations need to be reset and rebooted.

13) In TBF2, it was observed that there was a permanent trigger present on one Potaim card which induced a quench at 6000A during LHC cycle. After changing the card, the problem disappeared. Giorgio informed that since there was a similar problem earlier with another Potaim card in the same crate, they are planning to change the crate.

14) In TBE2, there was a problem of discharge of Quench Heaters during training. Eq Support investigated and found it to be a Power Convertor problem and the Power Convertor had to be reset manually. A link has been provided on the PC in control room (near the C bench workstation) to perform software (remote) reset of the Power convertor in case of such problems.

15) Because of the planned IT intervention (of 2-3 minutes per station!) on Sunday morning there were some problems like database communication errors, HWREC faults and test launching errors which resulted in unplanned magnet test interruption of around 2-3 hours.

That's all. Have a nice week.

Thanks and Regards

- D.A.Roy

Hi everyone,
