Dear Colleagues,

The following two messages are on behalf of Nick :

A) Please note that every problem/comments should be entered in the e-log book by the people in the shift.

B) The Cryo priorities for the magnets should be monitored regularly, preferably by the shift leader. Also, the time when they are changed should be entered in the e-log book .

Highlights of Tuesday’s (11/07/2005) meeting for the week 3/07/2005 (Sunday ) to 09/07/2005 (Saturday):

(1) Total Magnets Tested = 16

12 Dipoles (2 with MM) + 3 SSS (0 with MM) + 1 special SSS (with MM)

With No ROBTC (rapid On Bench Thermal Cycle) on any bench.

2) There was cryo leak after every quench on magnet 2197 at bench TBC1. The reason is still unknown but cryo person informed that they will come to any conclusion after testing is complete on the currently installed magnet which is MBAL1245.

3) The sleeves for the magnet SSS204 on TBB2 were opened 2-3 times. This was because of wrong labelling for the connection.

4) Stephane Sanfilippo informed that magnet 2015 will come back for testing with quench antenna to further investigate the quench performance of the magnet. This magnet had almost same value of current from 5th training quench to 8th training quench and also the value of current at 4.4K quench was very low ( 9000A ).

5) There is some problem for installing (connection problem ) special SSS magnet on TBD2. It will take 2-3 days to install.

6) Walkiers informed that the next special SSS magnet on TBD2 will be Q4 type.

7) At present one of the voltage taps which gives information about clamp connection is broken on TBE1. Cryo personal informed that it will be repaired during silver shoe repair work.

8) Guy informed that on cluster F the variac which is used for minimum energy had the problem because the knob for changing the voltage was not put back after displacing it from zero position.

9) Richard has informed that the list of SSS magnets with new type of connection is available and will be sent to operation team for their reference.

10) The signal D1-D2 was flat for the magnet on TBC1 as one of the cables of Potaim card was disconnected during offset adjustment and was not reconnected. Guy informed that the splitters have been installed on old clusters to avoid this condition and on remaining clusters they will be installed.

11) Maryline informed that one of the MOBIC is not working properly because of old battery. The new battery has been ordered and is expected to be installed in the MOBIC by the end of this week.

12) Marco has informed that new software will be available by the end of this year to solve the communication problem and to avoid the messages like 'No communication between PLCSE & Server'.

13) Stafiniak has informed that there was swapping in the connection for the voltage taps in diode circuit of one of the SSS magnets. So there will be introduction of modified measurement procedure during CQW2 stage shortly.

That is all for this week.

Have a nice week ahead.

Best regards,

Naushad.
