Dear Colleagues,

Following are the highlights of the Tuesday meeting

held on 11th October 2005:

1) This week:

Test Coordinator : MARTA (164265).

Equipment Support : GUY DEFERNE (163602).

2) Magnet Test Cycles: 15 complete magnet test cycles were performed.

The breakup is as follows: 10 dipoles + 3 SSS + 2 SSSS (Special SSS)

3) The CFB Leak on TBE2 is still present. Efforts are going on to detect the leak and rectify it as early as possible. This whole week’s time will be needed to solve the problem. Till then there won’t be a new magnet on E2.

4) Special Point: Two special SSS: On B1 & D2 (Q7 on D2).

5) Note:

Special Transport arrangement is required for removal of Special SSS from the respective bench. This is not handled directly by ICS and not done by using ROCLA. So, we should not force ICS to do it.

Problems encountered by the SM18 Operations Team

& their Solutions:

1) The Cryo problem during Saturday & Sunday was due to some heater (H5) problem which triggered a lot more problems. It was finally solved.

2) TBF2: 3396: TT821 sensor present but data missing in MTF. There can be a similar problem in future for some Noell Magnets.

3) TBD2: SSS630: Quench analysis showed Peak Voltage out of limit for SSL at 4.55 K. Giorgio reasoned that because there is no Diode in SSS, the voltage may rise.

4) TBA1: 3389: Shaft in aperture was not possible to insert. This is because there was a lateral displacement of MRB, detected using Leica measurements.

5) TBD2: Current reading was bad for SSW. This is because the Connector for current (located on the bench) is bad. Note that the connection is to be done from the SSW control rack with the Connector (Current reading meter) located on the Panel for D bench.

6) MY93 HV rack is bad because the Megger is bad. It gives higher value of Voltage output than is expected.

7) TBA1: 2216: LHC cycle stopped due to cryo loss problem.

8) Note:

On the server sunmta24 (located in SM 18 Control room, next to the door), there is installed a new version of AQA (AQA 6.32). It will show IAP@warm for Normal SSS also, but cannot be used for Special SSS. Operation team is expected to test this new version and give feedback to Giorgio by Thursday. Based on feedback there may be modifications done on this version and then it will be installed on all servers in SM18 Control Room.

9) For communication error problems (Example: in HV communication error problem and IAP@Warm), logout of TEMA from both ends (in Control Room and Server below) and then restart TEMA.

This was all for the previous week.

Have a nice week ahead.

Best regards,

Dhruva Bhattacharjee
