Dear all,

Following are the highlights of Tuesday's meeting on 08 / 08 / 2005:

1) 12 complete magnets tested:

10 dipoles (1 with MM) + 2 SSS (No MM and SSW).

2) Nick informed that there will be a new magnet 1084 on bench A2. This will undergo standard tests and lifetime tests. Lionel added that the instrumentation required for the lifetime tests has been configured.

3 SSS206 on bench D1 which is undergoing thermal (fatigue) tests is right now undergoing cryogenic tests. Lionel informed that more quenches apart from the normal ones are required on this magnet. There is to be a discussion on the number and type of quenches that would be required.

4) There was a rotary switch problem for corrector powering on B and D cluster. Giorgio informed that he will look into it.

5) Cluster F Interconn box problem will be looked into by Giorgio.

6) Cryogenic and insulation tests are required on the connection cryostat on B2.

Statistics

7) Nick informed that as per statistics we need to test around 60 magnets per week on an average.

8) Dipole waiting + cooling down problem is approximately 30 hours and waiting + warming time is approximately 15 hours.

9) Till middle of September there will be only 2 SSS which will come for testing. One of them will be a special SSS.

10) Louis informed that so far half the total number of magnets in the LHC tunnel have been accepted.

Operational Problems

11) TBA1, MB2079, Tues_02_A: CDBP HV test failed on step Quench heater Vs Gnd. The test was repeated after performing a provoked quench at 3KA. The HV test failed again. Fredrico blew the dust from the IFS box. The HV test was repeated again after the first training quench. It was successful after the first quench.

12) TBA2, S0809, Tues_02_A: There was an over - range in sector 001 of Ap2 during MM1 and in Ap1. Sector 001 of shaft 29 has been sent for repairs.

13) TBD2, S607, Tues_02_N: Gamelle temperature was 6 deg C. This was because no thermal insulation was installed.

14) TBB2, Wed_03_N: Communication error between HV PLC and server. This fault was cleared after a few attempts of reset.

15) TBD2, s607, Thurs_04_A: Movement along the negative X direction not possible and movement along the Y direction is inverted. On creation of a new DB file the problem for the Y axis disappeared but the problem still persists for the X direction.

16) There were cryo interlock problems (Loss of Cryo OK) on TBD1. Lionel informed that the problem has been found and would be solved.

17) TBA2, MB1190, Fri_05_M: Marylene has opened an NC as there was a DB error in TEMA because the Tsensor is not attached to the magnet traveler.

18) There were cryo leaks on F1 (3138) and F2 (3387). Both the magnets were removed for repairs.

19) TBB2, Sat_06_M: Unable to launch HV test due to HV cable connection problem R. Mompo will look into the problem.

20) TBA2, MB1190, Sun_07_A: Hf DAQ could not be armed for a warm – up quench. After quench analysis the earth current exceeded 10 mA. The problem was fixed by Salem.

21) Sunday_07_N: The E – traveler was not working. The problem was subsequently rectified.

Have a Nice week,

Regards,

Jaydeep
