Dear Colleagues,

Following are the main points discussed in the meeting on 9th May, 2006.

Total of 15 magnets (11 dipoles+ 3 Arc-SSS, 182 repeat) were tested in the week from 2nd May 2006 to 8th May, 2006.

Test co-ordinator : Stephane

Equipment Support: Ghee, Maryline(on week end)

General:

1. ROCLA was found parked in front of F cluster. This was causing hindrance to OP team. Nick insisted that shift leader should be informed regarding ROCLA parking issues especially when repairs are carried out on ROCLA.

2. Nick pointed out that S4 series magnets are repeatedly coming for 2nd and 3rd round of testing because of leakage problems. Louis Walckiers acknowledged the point.

3. Nick highlighted that all the tests are carried out on 600 series magnets which are urgently required in the tunnel.

4. SSS636 was placed on TBD1 for 342 hours but no tests were conducted at all.

5. Nick informed that around 6 , series 600 magnets will have no TT821. Bearing this in mind, no NCs should be opened as it would be wastage of time when this information is already available. There will be an attempt to have this information while printing MTR.

6. Louis Walckiers observed that production rate in April was very good.

7. Nick observed that ROCLA unavailability from 1900 Hrs to 0600 Hrs will be problematic.

8. Stretch wire can be carried out on two benches with Ghee’s help.

Specifics:

TBC2: MB1323 – Quench was not detected in PT5.2. Tests were repeated as per instructions from Stephane (TC). Same problem was seen. Giorgio told that if the same problem repeats for other magnets, AQA needs modification. He informed that in this particular case, slope of the curve was very low. AQA is not programmed to recognize this as a quench

TBF2: MB1297 - Magnet was signed for standby after all cold tests were over as a leak was suspected and NC was opened. Finally no leak was detected and NC was closed.

TBD2: SSS609 - Magnet trained to ultimate PT7 (3900 A). Special tests were conducted by D.Bocian on T margin.

TBB2: SSS232 –HV at cold final failed at Quadrapole to ground stage. HV rack was changed but the problem persisted.

Video display on Bellegarde side was not functional.

TBC2: MB1280 –Safety matrix was not enabled when interconnection box changed to C2 hence quench heaters could not be charged for LF.

TBB1: SSS333 –Repeated failure in powering CD corrector was observed. Girgio informed that this was due to incorrect selection of inductance value.

TBA2: MB2238 –Paper traveler was missing at resistance measurement stage after cold stage.

TBF1: MB2254-Open sector was observed in sector D1_S_07_N in PT1 part 1. Reading in other sector was 280 K. Merylin suspected card calibration problem.

TBB2: SSS504 –Perplex glass protection sheet for quench heater was found missing. Operations team members were advised to place it suitably near the bench.

Clamp connection (CD,EF) check could not be launched. Girgio informed that this problem arose due to cohabitation of SSS and S4.

TBE1: MB2221 –Magnet scanning problem as one mobic was failing to establish connection with server and second mobic was facing database access problem.

TBF1: MB2254 –MM1 could not be launched, TEMA was failing to ramp up current. Maryline observed that some interlock was pending which was blocking the test.

TBF2: MB2264 –NC generated in CDW1 for problem in TT821,

TBB2: SSS504 –HV BP test failed. Condensation was found on top of CFB.

TBB1: SSS229 –During clamp connection check, LF acquisition was not getting triggered. Maryline found that a trigger on safety matrix was present as CD circuit is not connected on SSS504 (bench B2)

That iss all for the week, ended on 8th May, 2006.

Best regards.
