Dear Colleagues,

Following are the minutes of the Tuesday meeting held on 8th Aug., 2006:

à 14 magnet tests completed

6 – Dipoles

5 - Arc SSS tests but only 4 Magnets (312 ROBTC)

0 - 500 series

and 2 - 600 series (624 (165 hrs), 650 2nd run- MM done (169 hrs)

Test Co-ordinator: Nicolay. Equipment Support: 16-3602 G. D’Angelo

As per instructions from the office of DG, please do not drink water from the taps until further information.

1. Nick pointed out that water shutdown is planed on Monday from 8 am for 30 hrs. This is due to bacterial infection in water.

2. Halik Jerzey has given the information about the arrival schedule of next magnets in coming week. This schedule is displayed in our control room. On bench D1-648 to be followed by 660 (both will have SSW & 660 will have MM in addition). On bench D2- 651 to be followed by 625. On bench B1- Arc SSS. On bench B2 the sequence of magnets will be 510, 501, 665 and 667.

3. From next week Halik Jerzey will not be available for 3 week. In this period Andrzej Simkeo will look after his work.

4. Louis informed that ICS is expected to work in full strength from end of August. Presently 7 MB/week is the rate going on which is on higher side. So there may be chance of shortage of magnet for testing may arise.

5. Halik Jerzey informed that in this week also due to shortage of man power, time taken for connection & disconnection is more.

6. Nick pointed out that magnet 2281 on E2 bench has taken about two weeks, resulting in loss of time without any result.

7. Louis pointed out that due to HV problem total 6 magnets have failed, having humidity problem in IFS box and others. This has resulted in loss of 1-2 week time. But still work is progressing as per schedule time and till the end of year the required number of magnets for LHC project will expected to be completed.

8. Cryo in full strength is likely to be available upto Feb. 07 and during Jan & Feb. 07 spare magnets will come for testing. Nick pointed out that there may be chance that few SSS magnets will remain to be tested till the end of year 2006.

9. Louis pointed out that total 17 cool down & warm up cycles have been completed in last week. So one cool-down & one warm-up will be considered as one test cycle and one magnet tested.

10. Halik Jerzey informed that for S3 and S4 magnets, for any bar code number miss-matching with label or problems related to electrical test and measurement, contact ROBERT LOPEZ. If he is not available then contact NICOLAS BOURCEY or as a last resort contact PAULO DE CAMPOS.

11. Magnets SSS 318 & SSS 348 will have magnetic measurements coming in the next week. Louis informed that till the anticryostating work starts in full swing, the magnets having long MM test will be completed.

12. There is shortage of HV racks and the shortage was felt more due to the requirement to carry out more HV tests on faulty magnets.

13. Resistance measurement in S4:In S4 magnets having yellow cable for TT821 sensor, measure V+,V- first, then V+, I+ . Enter these values in respective fields of the ohms--CQR.xls file. Repeat the same for I taps i.e. I+,I- first, then V-,I- and enter the values.

Main problems in last week:

1. Cryo instability: Taking more time for reaching the temperature at 1.9 K & instability also resulted in failure test in between. Hence test is required to be repeated. Due to software problem control of cryo valve was not proper.

2. Rocla access was blocked by 2 vehicle, an anticryostates racks, one SSW stage & black magnet end cap hence magnet A1 was delayed to remove.

3. HV failed: Condensation problem. Problems in magnet.

4. Quench Heater Charging problem (cluster C): QH matrix card was not fully inserted.

5. Magnet name was missing in cluster ABC so no test could be done: MTF problem.

6. Water supply problem: No cold test could be done.

Have a nice week ahead.

With Best Regards

NILESH DALAL
