Dear Colleagues,

Following are the minutes of the Tuesday meeting held on 7th Nov., 2006:

à 12 magnet tests ( 8 Magnet Stripped) completed this week.

Test Coordinator: Vinod Chohan Equipment Support: Richard.

1. Magnet SSS514 was accepted despite not reaching ultimate in 9 ramps as it was observed during MM tests that the magnet had 10% more field strength than expected calculations.

2. Nick highlighted that cooling/warm-up times of magnets as well as connection/disconnection times of magnets are increasing day by day. Also numbers of SSS magnet quenches have increased this year compared to previous years.

3. Nick also advised the operation team for doing more than 9 quenches for SSS magnets (After consulting TC) if they are not de-trained and they are nearing the ultimate current. Louis advised to follow this procedure more on MQTL magnets than on MQ magnets.

4. Georgio suggested opening separate NC for each type of problem during tests and not to club two different problems for opening single NC. He also advised to call equipment support for any warnings generated during tests instead of adding them in E-logbook.

5. ROCLA will not be available from next week after 4 PM till 8 AM during week-days. Also it will be available on ON-CALL basis from Friday evenings to Monday mornings.

6. According to Hallick, SSS magnets with high jumper heights cannot be put on B-cluster. Arc-SSS magnets can be put on this cluster.

7. Stephen advised to disconnect magnet on bench A2 (not to remove it from bench) for doing modifications on that bench for conducting MM. He also advised to maintain stable temperature on bench D1 as the magnet on the bench is expected to have many quenches.

8. Nick highlighted that SSW is not done for long time on Arc-SSS magnets and that the sequence for that is defined by experts which is not available to operation team many times. Stephen agreed to send information on SSW for MTR-Updating.

9. Special SSS magnets 694, 674 and 675 will be available for D cluster next week. There is no new magnet to be put on bench B2.

10. On bench B1 for magnet SSS366, there was encoder problem and no problem in power converter according to Stephen. Marco will continue with MM for this magnet.

11. On bench C2, PLCSE error while launching HV at cold was solved by Salem by changing broken profibus connector (PLCSE towards PLCHV).

12. On magnet SSS366 on bench B1, ICS could not read resistance value of one of the anti-cryostat. Georgio was informed and he changed the test-box after which the problem was solved.

13. On magnet MBAR2405, during PT1, the problem of Vbus card permanent trigger was due to floating voltage tap EE112 according to Georgio and was solved by Eric by bridging it with EE111.

Main problems in last week:

1. For SSS514: MQTL corrector not reaching ultimate after 9 ramps.

2. Paper travelers could not be found for SSS514 and SSS679.

3. PLCSE error while launching HV at cold for SSS047 on bench C2.

4. For SSS047, ICS could not read one resistance of anti-cryostat.

5. During PT1 for magnet MBAR2405, Vbus card gave permanent trigger.

6. Powering of MQ could not be launched for SSS366 on bench B!.

7. Wrong sequence executed for SSW1 for SSS366.

8. VME crate was not working on bench B1.

Enjoy a good week ahead.

With Best Regards

Sunil Kulkarni
