Minutes of Tuesday Meeting on 03/10/2006

For the running week Marco Buzio will be TC upto 04.10.2006 and from then Marta will be TC till end of week. The Equipment support person on call will be Salem for the running week.

In the past week

Magnets tested :

Dipoles - 11, Arc SSS - 6, 600 series IR SSS - 2, 500 series SSS – 0, So total - 19

Magnets stripped: 16

Magnet standby : 2 (both have no NC but could not be stripped as they are IR SSS)

Magnet on ROBTC : 1 (Arc SSS-242, Trained successfully to ultimate but put on ROBTC as part of HV insulation investigation observed before warm up quench.)

The OP team was informed that Arc SSS-228 presently on bench B1 has come with report of cryo leakage. Cryo team shall perform some pressure tests along with quench attempts of OP team and also thereafter. Therefore OP team should get consent of Cryo team before warming up (PT9, warm up quench) the magnet. And in all cases this magnet should be signed for stand by with appropriate comment at MAPS stage. I have put some noting on corresponding pages of MTR of the magnet so that OP team members do not miss this.

ArcSSS-242 presently on bench B2 has undergone ROBTC due to failure of HV (CQAP failed Quadrupole Vs Ground. Resistance reported few ohms) after successful training upto ultimate. However the failure disappeared with mystery next day without any known intervention by any one. Luis wanted investigation by experts to find the reason of fail and successive pass. He asked Richard to take care of referring the case to appropriate expert with all relevant facts detailed. Quenches (provoke) were performed on the magnet afterwards with high voltage tests in between but the magnet passed all successive high voltage tests. The magnet is ready to go out of the bench.

Louis wanted to clarify if correctors of SSS-359 were trained. He had the concern due to some noting in e-logbook. Nick informed in absence of any NC it is hoped the correctors were trained. However the SMTMS entries for the magnet clarified that all correctors of the magnet were trained to ultimate.

The Arc SSS-317 on bench D1 is supposed to undergo some very special magnetic measurements and SSW measurements. Luis, Nick presumed Stephane SANFILIPPO will be responsible for those special measurements. They hoped the full test schedules will be made available to the OP team before the magnet reaches 1.9K. It was anticipated the magnet will be cold by tonight (03.10.06). However in the latter part of meeting Stephane informed that he is only partially responsible for those magnetic measurements. The very special measurements will be looked after by Marco Buzio. Nick hoped the responsible person shall make available the test schedule at appropriate time for Op team.

Georges-Henry wanted some debugging in the software so that unnecessary messages coming to OP team leader mobile is stopped or at least they come in relevant cryo phases of magnet. However Leonel highlighted difficulties in attempting any debugging of software at this stage, even though he admitted that this disparity of temp between magnet and anti cryostat has nothing to do with OP team.

That's all from tuesday meeting, have a nice week ahead.

Bye
